Year
2026
Medium / context
Silk organza, wool, cotton muslin, madder dye, black tea print, wooden dowel, and metal / Textile Installation

After leaving Greece in 2022, familiar places and memories began to shift as I moved between cities. A photographic archive of places where I had felt a sense of belonging became the starting point for a flag made through natural dyeing, appliqué and hand embroidery. Unlike a national flag, its territory has no official borders and its form is not protected from change. It is an intimate proposition that belonging can form through movement and not despite it.

The work extends into postcards made from the same archival fragments, each holding a piece of the flag. Participation reflects individuals' desire to belong under the shared flag, requiring only their willingness to contribute by taking one piece. As more participate (until no postcards remain), the flag becomes less "national" and more inclusive, representing a collective effort.
